A good overview of Brooklyn history and a great sample of Brooklyn food. I'd thoroughly recommend this tour.
My mother was born in Greenpoint, and my father in Brooklyn in 1912. I was born in Brooklyn in 1943 and shortly thereafter we moved out to Long Island and then to Florida. My husband and I took this half day food and culture tour of the area in a 24 passenger comfortable mini bus, primarily to learn about this new diverse Brooklyn. We were not in the least bit disappointed. Our guide was Alyssa and she knew her history old and new. Alyssa answered any question thrown to her. She was well versed on all the neighborhoods and especially the popularity Brooklyn has now. To top if off, we visited 6 restaurants tasting meatballs, falafil , kibasa, pizza, Italian sweets and chocolates. My husband was celebrating his 80th birthday and I am 74 and we expected that since this tour was a combination walking and bus tour it might be too much for him. But it was not. Alyssa's pace was perfect, plenty of time for tasting and checking menus out and our driver always had us getting on and off the bus in safe places. I highly recommend this tour.
