Big Sur Electric Bike Tour Along Old Coast Road

Aperçu
Discover one of the most scenic rides in the world on our electric bikes. Famous for its beauty, Big Sur offers the ultimate experience to explore California's Central Coast.

On this guided tour, we will meet at the start of the Old Coast Road, on Highway 1 directly across the entrance to the Andrew Molera State Park parking lot. Please note that there is no cell service in this area. Your guide will be reaching out to you the day before to confirm meeting place and answer any questions you may have.

We use Specialized Tero electric mountain bikes as a default on this tour but are able to bring Super73 RX bikes at request of customer pending availability of bikes in our rental fleet.

À quoi s'attendre
1
Andrew Molera State Park
We meet across from the entrance to the State Park and get a briefing on how the eBikes operate before heading up the old dirt wagon road that the pioneers used before Hwy 1 was built. We ride along this road, through the State Park and stop at sweeping vistas of the Park and the Pacific Ocean.
2
Old Coast Road
We ride about 5 miles along the Old Coast Road, from Andrew Molera State Park into the Little Sur River Valley before turning around and riding back. The ride is full of sweeping vistas. It can be dry and dusty or muddy depending on the season. Make sure you're ready for a ride with some loose dirt and gravel on some long hills.
3
Andrew Molera State Park
Our first stop is a scenic overlook where we see the Big Sur River join the Ocean at this "smugglers beach." It's a beautiful view and has some fun history.
4
Big Sur
As we climb the hill you'll look out over the Big Sur Valley and see where the river meanders to the sea.
5
Point Sur State Historic Park
As our tour gains altitude we gaze out past the Point Sur Light Station in the distance. Learn about the fun history that brought this lighthouse to us.

Noah was a great guide. We appreciated that he let us set the speed in terms of how quickly we biked especially on the climbs.

Views from the overlook and hike to river. Water during or after trip would have been good. Longer ride would have been. Good also. Best would have been to include a bike trip across street to historic point sur lighthouse.

Thanks for your feedback! Our guides normally do bring complimentary water and snacks for this tour, we will check with your guide to see what happened here. Not sure how long you rode for but most of these tours go over the time frame specified in the description. Unfortunately the lighthouse is not near this route so it is not possible to bike there. The lighthouse has their tour admission bookings everyday at 10am that must be booked in advance. Hope this is helpful. We do hope you come back and ride with us again on one of our other tours. We apologize this tour didn't end up being a 5 star experience for you.

After a little mix up with the type of bike we were supposed to have, we had a great tour with Noah. He was knowledgeable, friendly and so down to earth. He text us earlier in the morning and it made it easy to communicate since we ran into a ramp closure heading down to the meet up spot. The hike down to the river was so peaceful and was a great way to relax before heading back. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
