Visite nocturne en kayak de bioluminescence du refuge faunique de l'île Merritt

Aperçu
There are only a few places is the world you can see this amazing display of sea life lighting up the waters with their other-worldly neon glow.  This is one Florida experience you do not want to miss! What makes this amazing is that the protected wetlands around the area we launch our kayaks has almost no light pollution. This make for amazing visibility of the bioluminescence.

We did the raft tour with my wife and 2 children, ages 11 and 14. We had the most incredible experience! The tour itself was fascinating and downright cool, and Alex was a fantastic tour guide. He was knowledgeable, funny, engaging and just all around awesome. Can't wait to do this again!

This trip was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend you to go on this trip as it is something that you do not experience in your everyday life. Also, the people who ride with you are extremely nice and talkative. Loved it with my family. A DEFINITE 5/5!!!

We did the bioluminescent kayaking tour in a clear kayak with BK Adventure in July 2019. They leave from the end of a dirt road at Haulover Canal near the Manatee Observation Deck at Merritt Island. After sunset only tour groups are allowed on that road. There were a total of 4 companies getting ready to set up their kayaks. It was pretty busy as different groups were getting instructed to go out in their kayak. We checked in with BK Adventure and waited for everyone in our group to arrive. There were 22 people in our group, using 11 clear kayaks. Our group went out with 5 leaders in their own 1-person kayak. We were in the water for about 1 hour and 45 minutes and we had an amazing time. I had never experienced bioluminescence and it was incredible. As soon as our clear kayak hit the water and we moved our paddles around we could already see effect. I couldn't believe how bright it was. I'd seen videos, but it looks spectacular in real life. Our group paddled through the canal to mosquito lagoon and back. The leaders were great and kept us all together by regularly calling for our numbers. Mullets were swimming and jumping around leaving trails of light, as they went all around us and under our kayak. Small fish would scatter when we put our paddle in the water, each leaving a small trail of light. We saw dolphins several times and a large alligator went right by our kayak, it too leaving a trail of bright bubbles. It was magical. Highly recommended!
