- [ ] My friend and I went on the clear kayak sunset/bioluminescence tour with John and 4 other guests. We actually really enjoyed the bioluminescence experience, but we were both so disappointed in our guide. He was completely disengaged and gave no guidance or real information during our tour. He would often just sit in the water in his kayak with no communication for long periods of time or give no direction about what we should be doing or looking for. We eventually just went off on our own to explore. The most excitement we saw out of John was when he literally called us all over near the mangroves and he was scavenging with his paddle to retrieve what we soon found out was a wayward Tervis thermos with a naked lady on it.. and I kid you not.. he basically sat in his kayak and stared at it for a good 10 minutes while we were just kind of left drifting in the water waiting for any sign of direction. It was weird. And then we came in for part 2 which was the bioluminescence half and there was a new group waiting to go out and there was a super enthusiastic girl engaging and informing her group about their tour. We went out hoping to be joining the “fun” group, but after trying to hang close to them, we were told to follow John .. asked him where we were going.. no response.. ended up far away from everyone where there was far less bioluminescence. After we got back, the rest of our group agreed that john was probably not the most enthusiastic guide.. lol. The experience was cool though and my friend and I enjoyed ourselves anyway.
