Vibrant troubling black history tour. Clay was amazing! His wealth of knowledge is over the top. Rainy day and we thought he might cancel but he did not. We were pleased we had taken his tour BEFORE going to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. His knowledge and the places he took us to totally enhanced the institute tour. Thanks, Clay.

Clay is a fantastic tour guide on the subject of Birmingham and Alabama civil rights movement. He's like an encyclopedia of knowledge and gives you as much detail and answers as you could ever want in this 3 hour tour as he drives you around and you walk around Birmingham. I learned so much and I already had studied the civil rights movement extensively. He should really charge more. This is a bargain and well worth your morning.

We did the Civil Rights tour. Like everyone else said, it was fantastic. The owner, Clay, was very organized, he sent a text in the morning to let us know exactly what time he would pick us up at our hotel. He was right on time, very friendly and answered all of our crazy questions. He did not rush anyone, and mentioned several times to take as long as you needed for pictures, etc. You could tell he enjoyed doing this tour and put his heart into it. This is one of the best tours I have ever taken. It was not a cookie-cutter tour. You could tell that he did his own research about his city to put together the best tour possible. It's one thing to hear about the bombings in the city, but another to drive (and stop) by the actual houses and still see the bricks out of place. It really brought the history to life. I liked that Clay even passed around actual Poll Tax receipts from the city. He took us to parts of the city that don't normally see tourists. There were so many little details that really added to the tour. We went to the Civil Rights museum after the tour, and while it was a great museum, I felt we would have missed out on so much if we hadn't gone on the tour with Clay. I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Birmingham, it's a great way to learn about the city. I only wish I had known about this company sooner, we would have loved to do some of the their other tours.
