On this three hour WALKING & DRIVING tour, you’ll travel around Birmingham to learn about the struggle for equal rights from the end of the Civil War up through the Civil Rights movement. Your tour will begin at the statue of Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, the leader of the local movement Civil Rights struggle. We’ll discuss why the Civil Rights movement was needed and what led to segregation's fall. As you visit the major churches, parks and houses, you'll learn about a few groups who fought for Civil Rights in Birmingham and who fought against it.

We went with our 3 teenage children, & HIGHLY recommend it. It is a very honest, factual & informative tour about very important historical events that took place right where you are standing. The tour guide was very knowledgeable & open to any questions about the area & history of Birmingham. We learned A LOT - to respect the lessons of history & the bravery & significant struggles of those who stood up & fought for Civil Rights! On a side note, it was very nice to walk in the parks around town & other sites, but also nice to ride the bus for other parts of the tour. You should definitely put this tour on your itinerary!!!
