Clay, owner of Red Clay Tours, was our guide for this Civil Rights tour. He is extremely knowledgeable and gave detailed background for the events of the 50s in Birmingham. Although I knew the broad strokes, his tour and explanation filled in details and brought to life the times and actors of the city's history. I appreciated the way he contextualized the information within the CR movement as a whole and Birmingham's history as a city, and learned much that I hadn't known. Very well run. Good mix between walking and being driven. I could always hear Clay. Kudos! One of the best history tours. Do ask questions -- Clay's a native born Birmingham resident and has much to say.

Outstanding tour of Birmingham, its current & past history in relationship to the city’s involvement in our country’s civil rights movement. Our guide Clay, who was born & raised in Birmingham, was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful & well spoken. He answered all our questions thoroughly and caused this senior citizen to want to dig deeper in learning about the times that led up to the marches of the 60’s in Birmingham. I appreciated that the tour included not just a walking tour but also a bus tour through different locations that we would not have been able to learn about on foot. By far one of the better history tours I have experienced.

Clay our guide was punctual and very friendly. The tour was bus and walking. Masks were required on the bus, which was great. The tour itself was very informative and enjoyable, based mainly on Rev Shuttlesworth career and his fight against segregation, Clay also included other noteworthy events. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend.
