Whether you are an avid golfer or a first timer DO NOT book a golf experience at this poor excuse for a golf course! If the price were reasonable this would be an experience to be talked about and enjoyed, as it was almost $100 apiece for my wife and I I feel like were robbed! Even at the worst courses in the lower 48 I could always differentiate from the fairway to the green not here. We booked our outing from the excursion desk at the Princess Denali Lodge based on the pictures in their excursion book and after the fact they should be sued for false advertising. From the time we got off the transportation (free) I felt like we had been transported to a back country farm. As usual it was misting rain and the dirt area around all Black Diamond buildings was muddy and puddle ridden. Since we had already paid by credit card prior to arriving (required at excursion desk) we felt we had no alternative but make the best of it. To say this was like playing golf in a cow pasture would be insulting to cow pastures everywhere! This is a 9 hole course but so poorly marked we could only find 8. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BOOKING THIS EXCURSION!

Hello from Alaska, I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us. I am not sure what price you think would be fair for you to enjoy it. Sounds like nothing would have worked best for you. We are a very small company in the heart of Alaska and are only able to be open a few short summer months as 9 months of the year we are covered in artic cold. This is a fun place for us. We have a lot of wonderful members from all ages and offer an extremely low rate for the local kids to have a place to come and be social and safe. Our tour is just a choice of many. I appreciate you offering your opinion of the course so that others like yourself chose to do something different as we are not unlike you and would rather people like yourself do not come. So thank you for your review as again. We offer a totally unique, natural Alaskan golf course built on natural tundra with impressive mountain views. If this is not what you are looking for we totally understand and hope your golf experience in the lower 48 is the same at every single location. As you have in the TITLE of this review... “Alaskan Tundra Golf Course.” It is a natural course built on the natural ground that exists here. There is little to no top soil here as we do not compost well and soil is not naturally made. We are also in a high permafrost area. I agree this was a strange place to have a golf course but after all we just want to give people an opportunity to get out of their hotel room, walk around, smell the fresh mountain air, have some fun, and experience something different. It is interesting you are writing this review on trip advisor when you booked through a different company. I love working with Holland/Princess but they do tack on a large commission so we do not get nearly the amount of money that you choose to pay. However the price did include a lot of items such as roundtrip transportation greens fees, clubs, balls, power golf cart, tees, and a souvenir… To respond to your comments: the pictures we advertise are actual pictures we took. That is a fact. I am not sure where you are from but our transportation is not free. We have to buy the vehicles, pay the staff, pay for insurance, gas, maintenance, wages…. Part of the price is the roundtrip transportation. I have paid more than you paid for a cab ride from an airport to my hotel. We are a country farm. We have beautiful draft horses, mini horses and donkeys, goats and baby goats… we are a mini farm sorry that offended you You stated as usual it was misting rain? We have had hardly any rain this summer. Sadly not enough and I hope it does rain more. The 10 day forecast is honestly pretty actuate and no one forced you to book this on the day and time you did. Am I offended by your review? Not really, I have met a very small number of people like you while running my business for 30 years. The reason I keep doing it is for the 1000’s of amazing people we meet and the wonderful staff we have. Cheers to 30 more years to great adventurers and unique and fun travelers.

The golf course was so much fun. We rented clubs at the course and the staff was very helpful. They picked us up at the Denali Cabins. We at dinner in the clubhouse and it was very good.

We played 9 holes. We couldn't find our way around the course. Never did find the 6th hole tee off.. Couldn't figure out where the greens were. The fairways were nonexistent,Disappointing worse than rough, full of troughs and holes. The greens were full of weeds and stones. The idea of golfing under the midnight sun was appealing but the golfing experience was extremely disappointing. On the other hand, the food and service in the dining room was excellent.

Hello Marilyn this is Marilyn :-) ha ha hardly ever meet another Marilyn. ANyway I am sorry you didnt enjoy the golf we do advertise this as a rough Alaskan golf course built on tundra. Unfortuatnley due to our extremely climiate we have little to no top soil and we have chosen to have a course on the natural ground and not hauled in imported dirt. I am very happy you enjoyed the restruant at least and wish you happy travels. We do have signs up and a score card but I am not sure you noticed them. Hole number six is tricky and a challenge to find. THats often part of the fun for some. Kind regards Marilyn
