Be aware that the tour size of these walking tours can be as many as 50 people. The day we went was a windy day, the female guide was trying to yell over the wind but with so many people she just couldn't be heard. We shifted spaces, but didn't want to be rude and stand in front of others (who probably couldn't hear either.) We noticed several walking tours going on around us - all of the guides seemed to have microphones of some sort. Not sure why ours didn't. We gave up and left the group after 15 minutes. Our tip go to the Boston Commons visitors center and buy the walking tour guide ($9.00) It is informative, easy to read, and all "stops" are in the book. The Walking Tour w/Guide doesn't cover all of them. What did we miss? I'm sure the guides add their own style, anecdotes, and trivia (if you can hear them.) The reason I'm giving it three stars is that it is probably a good tour if you get a guide with a microphone.
