I’ve been on amazing ghost tours in Beaufort NC and Key West and was hopeful that In an amazing city like Boston it would be an incredible night of scary, historic stories and ghoulish graveside visits. It was not. Our tour guide, a woman spoke so fast and muddled her words together, with an accent, that we literally caught every 10th word or so, which was so frustrating because the trip is based on stories, so you need to Mae sure you hire story tellers who articulate clearly so the audience gets every word. The PA system on the trolly was horrible so when she spoke through that telling stories all the way between stops, we were lost. Between the fast taking, the accent, and the awful sound system, I’m not sure anyone on the trolly caught 25% of what was said. My next issue was when we did go to a cemetery and stand around her to listen to the stories. None of them were scary at all. They were all “informational”. Like how there are 2300 headstones but 10,000 bodies because they stacked bodies and because headstones were stolen and some people didn’t get headstones in the first place. That’s not a ghost story!! And all the stories were like that. Then after that stop we rode a long way just to “drive by” and look up at the apartment where the Boston Strangler’s last victim lived. Not very exciting. On to Boston Commons just to tell us it was the oldest park in the nation. Again, informational, not scary or spooky. Finally, an hour and a half in, my daughter and I had to go to the bathroom pretty bad so when we were getting back in the trolly after one stop, I politely asked the guide “will any of the stops have bathrooms nearby?” She said to me “obviously you weren’t listening when I said at the beginning that there were no bathrooms along the way”. I mean…. How rude! And no I didn’t hear that even though we WERE listening but as I mentioned…she was almost impossible to decipher!! She could have politely said she didn’t know of any bathrooms but perhaps we might look around at the next stop for a place to pop in. But she clearly had no concern for helping us with the situation l. So that was that. The next stop, with finding a bathroom becoming more urgent, we broke from the tour and into Beantown Pub where we used the bathroom and had a nice drink! We did not rejoin the tour. Big disappointment for $90!
