We were really saddened by our rental experience over new year. We were a group of 8 and arrived to pick up our skis that were booked weeks before. My advice is don’t bother prebooking as you have to queue with everyone else and no equipment had been set aside for us anyway. When we finally reached the front of the queue after nearly 2 hours they basically had no equipment left of the grade we had ordered. 3 out of 4 of the teenagers were given poorly fitting boots, 3 of us were given the wrong length skis and they were certainly quite old with mine being rusty on the edges, and 2 of the group were given poles that were way too short. The staff were polite but fairly dismissive in a ‘that’ll do for you ‘ way. They basically said yes the kit wasn’t right but to come back another day and wait again to get it changed. A very bad start to our holiday and as we had already lost a big chunk of the day we decided not to waste the cost of a days ski pass by going up the mountain that late. We were very frustrated and even more disappointed. We travel extensively all over the world to ski and have never experienced such dismissive and shoddy treatment and equipment. No personnel had masks on, all of the customers were squashed in to a tiny waiting area and there was no Covid precautions whatsoever. The staff were busy and obviously stressed but to be honest… it was new year and should’ve been expected. Precautions should have been put in place. I am a travel agent within a large company and I certainly will be advising never to use this outlet for ski hire.

Sally,
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, and understand that we are diligently working to improve our operations after this last holiday season. Our shop, along with all of the other equipment rental shops in Breckenridge, was low on gear due to the volume of travelers during the Christmas and New Year. As we worked extensive hours to accommodate all guests, there were some hurdles with availability for common gear sizes and that is what you experienced.
Additionally, our shop follows county mandate orders for all COVID procedures. At the time of your equipment rental masks were not a requirement in the county. We have since made masks mandatory within the shop to follow the latest Summit County protocols. We also sanitize frequently throughout the shop.
I'd like to speak with you directly about your experience at Breckenridge Ski & Sport.
Please reach out to me at 970-423-5039.
