We raced to the pier to make our 8:00 a.m. snorkeling departure, and we were warmly greeted by our Captain, Simon, who displayed a true sense of Hawaiian time, which instantly helped us relax and enjoy the moment, putting us at ease. We also appreciated Simon's sense of humor as he explained the rules and regulations for our time together. The crew (Simon, Kenny, Xander, and Kahn?) appeared to have friendly and comfortable relationships with each other creating a fun atmosphere for everyone on board.
Our highlights included seeing pods of dolphins swimming alongside our ship as we ventured out into the sea, as well as multiple turtle sightings. Of course the actual snorkeling experience was incredible to see the array of fish and sea life! The historical information shared during our boat ride was interesting, and we were impressed by the quality of the lunch that was provided (croissant meat and cheese sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, drinks and snacks). They were generous in the portion sizes being offered, our appetites satisfied.
Teens on board were surprised and delighted to be invited by the crew to temporarily "man" the ship (under direct supervision, of course). We enjoyed this excursion and we were treated as guests! We highly recommend this tour regardless of whether or not you participate in the actual snorkeling option.
