For my girlfriend's first time in NY, we wanted to do something relaxing and romantic involving Central Park and I didn't want to have to potentially haggle over prices with the carriage ride people the day of so I booked this tour with Viator as I have had good experiences with them in the past. The plan was to do the ride around sunset and then have dinner at Tavern on the Green, and with this particular booking title, it seemed perfect.
Prior to arrival, they sent me a very detailed message about how to find the right carriage at the meeting point, which was appreciated, but they emphasized that there should be a specific logo on the carriage but when we got there, there was no such logo on our carriage which was confusing.
The lady who took us on our tour was nice but the experience was very awkward the entire time. We were under the impression that she was going to just point out a few of the landmarks as we passed them on the ride but she did not stop talking the entire time, and we couldn't really even hear or understand most of what she was saying because she didn't enunciate very well and it was more of a rehearsed monologue that she kept going with even at times talking over our conversions or when we just wanted some peace and quiet to enjoy the ride. She took a few photos for us, which was appreciated, but most of them came out blurry and I would have rather just taken them myself. She also didn't pay attention to the type of ride that we had signed up and had I not double checked with her, she would have dropped us off at the wrong place even though the title clearly said "with drop off at Tavern on the Green".
For how much we paid for this 45 min excursion, I would say this was overall a disappointment.
