Joining Discover Richmond Tours means exploring Church Hill in a unique way. You will sample delicious food and snacks from up to 5 different restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, possibly including wood-fired pastries, classic Richmond comfort food, authentic Ethiopian Fare, and more! You’ll learn about the birthplace of Richmond and it’s heroes, and hear how our partner merchants got their start. But most of all, we’ll make sure you have fun doing it.

Be sure to bring water and comfortable shoes – we’ll be standing at most of our stops, and we’ll be in and out too quickly for water and other beverages to be served.

What a great tour! I grew up in Richmond and learned a lot. Benedict was a great guide - very knowledgeable and open to questions. The food was delicious. I had lots of leftovers to take home. Highly recommend!

This food tour was ok. Benedict was a great host. He is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a fair bit of walking. Some history and an emphasis on the architectural details of the neighborhoods. Bring water because it is not provided -even at most stops. The tour might consider offering some a long the way. I ended up purchasing a bottle. The food was kind of snack like but generally tasty. I think the menu for the day could be improved by being more seasonal. Pretty heavy stuff for a hot summer day. But the ending at an ice cream shop was refreshing.

Hi Jennifer, I'm sorry the summer weather here dampened your experience. You're right about all those things - it was hot and water isn't often provided. I want to note you booked your tour through Viator, instead of directly with us. Had you booked directly with us, your confirmation email would have said the following: -- MOST IMPORTANT! Richmond is HOT in the summer, and many of our stops are still not allowing the public inside. This means limited bathroom opportunities, and lots of time spent outdoors. Please prepare for these conditions by bringing water (very important). Your guide will seek shade as often as possible, and can point you the right direction should you urgently need a bathroom when one is unavailable. Please know that we're trying to get us indoors as often as we can, but it is simply not always possible with how our restaurant partners are operating these days! -- We try to set the right expectations as best we can. And you might ask, well why don't you include that info on Viator directly? The answer is: Viator gives us very limited space and character count, and lots of things we want to share with our future guests just doesn't fit. Please consider booking directly with us next time so you'll be fully prepared for a great afternoon of food touring! Brian, Discover Richmond Tours

Dilwyn gave the Church Hill Food tour by Viator. He was a nice person and knowledgeable. The human customer service on the phone, the pace of the tour, the coordination with the restaurants, and the overall curation of the event was professional. I gave (3.5 to) 4 stars because even though it's the going rate, I think it is very pricey for the type of food and the actual time given. Dilwyn and the partnering restaurants did their best and should not be asked to do or give more. The problem is Viator's cut in this is way too high in my opinion.

Hi Siu, I'm glad you had a great time with us! You're right - Viator takes a significant cut when you purchase tickets through them (for us it's 22%), which definitely puts pressure on our prices.
