I really enjoyed this tour. The places we went were the highlights of Washington. I did the 6 hour tour which started a little late acceptable and ended approx 4:45 PM. The time for each site was acceptable for viewing and photo opp. Enough time for bathroom breaks and rest. A lot of walking involved as expected around the National Mall. The tour guide was nice and accommodating but was a bit loud as she was shouting the information as we walk around the site. I did not see other tour guides doing that. I appreciate the dissemination of important information but it could be embarrassing when in a big crowd, she shouts the BUS number and expects us to respond to this. Her photo skills were a bit off. Not her mistake as she's no professional but I had my pic taken by her and it cut off the MOST important part of the site! It was a great day. Sure learned a lot about of Washington. Will recommend this tour.
Very disorganized as it appeared that they over booked and overlapped the 3, 6 and 8 hour tours. We had to wait for another bus which dalyed our start time considerably. They had a guide and driver team and 3/4s of the way through, the team left 11 paasengers and went to the next stop.
I am sure this tour, offered by Royal Tours, is usually a good tour but the tour we actually experienced this day was terrible and definitely not worth the money we paid for it...and this was not the fault of the driver Curtis, or the guide Kim. In fact, these two individuals did a marvelous job dealing with the situation they were given. You see, Royal Tours should never have offered this tour of Washington, DC on this day. This was the day of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. It was impossible for the tour to follow normal routes in fact, most stops were impossible to make, other stops were possible only by following circuitous routes, and other stops were possible only with excessive unplanned walking. So, bottom line: Hats off to Curtis and Kim for effort well beyond the call, and shame on Royal Tours for offering the tour that day, knowing full well they would not be able to deliver a quality tour, and leaving Curtis and Kim an impossible task.
