Ok, so it's in the Times Square area so not truly off the beaten path, but this is a hilarious and raucous good time. Can't afford tickets to a Broadway play? Good. This is WAY better anyway. More intimate ... and did I mention hilarious? I can't wait to seen it again.

The drinking part is part of the show. All of the players are energetic and creative enough without a drink, the one of them drinks is an addition to the show. There was two noisy drunk women in the crowd and the actors when they were not part of the act talked to them, which is good because and place can have a person or two in the crowd that are loud, so addressing that is a very good thing. All the actors knew their Shakespeare and knew how to flip comedy into the mix. The audience is brought in at different levels for the show including an auction for king and queen seated spots. Some parts were one actor giving another actor a situation to ad lib which was great. Fun time.

I've been to Drunk Shakespeare twice now (thanks, Groupon!), and cannot rave enough about my experiences. Yes, I am a Shakespeare nerd. Yes, I love fancy, fun cocktails. And yes, I love exploring Manhattan with my husband. This past Saturday, my husband and I took in the 6pm performance of Drunk Shakespeare. Upon entering, we were greeted with too-sweet-and-sugary-shots (but they were included with the price of admission, so score!), and were immediately shown to our seats in the all-too-enchanting-library-setting. Once in our seats, we perused the cocktail offerings (and swigged our too-sweet-shots). I wound up with an awesome sour/tart whiskey lemonade (I've already forgotten the Shakepeare-y name they gave the concoction). My husband had a blackberry cocktail, which was equally tasty--and went down easily. The play--an ad libbed, but semi-scripted version of Macbeth, was hilarious from the outset. This is the Shakespeare experience to take Shakespeare naysayers to in order to get them to change their minds. From the moment the actors began, I laughed so hard, my cheeks hurt--no exaggeration. My only qualm--and this isn't a deal breaker in least--is that we got to see Macbeth. The first time I saw Drunk Shakespeare (for my birthday in 2018), they performed Macbeth. Now that I've seen it twice, while beyond enjoyable both times, I'm pretty sure I'm ready for something different. I've no doubt, say, A Midsummer Night's Dream could make for a fall down hilarious show... This is well worth the price of admission and the price of a couple cocktails.
