Edward Hopper House Museum Entry Ticket

Aperçu
Located only 25 miles from New York’s mid-town Manhattan in one of the most charming Hudson River villages in the metropolitan area, the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center is the historic family home where America’s most renowned artist was born and spent the first 26 years of his life. It highlights early Hopper works and the opportunity for visitors to experience the surrounding environment that inspired him and his choices of light, color, and subject matter that imbues his later work. Truly a unique experience! The house (built in 1858, with an 1882 addition) is registered on the National Register of Historic Places and the museum is a member of the Historic Artists Homes & Studios, a prestigious alliance run by the National Trust of Historic Preservation.

It was a self-guided tour, not evident when I signed up for it. Fortunately the entry fee I paid in advance was low, so I hadn’t invested much in the experience. Fun to see his childhood bedroom with its view of the Hudson. Nice video at the beginning. Good posted explanations throughout.

As executive director, I was dismayed to hear that your recent visit was not as robust as we seek to provide our audiences. I am glad you did enjoy the overall experience and being in Edward Hopper's aura in Nyack. We are doing many things to improve our visitor experience and interpretive tours and are embarking on new strategic initiatives. I hope you will have an even more engaged experience with us on your next visit.

A delightful museum near Westchester County (just across the Tappan Zee Bridge). The house gives you a sense of what it was like when Hopper lived there. Informative video playing in one of the rooms; there was a very good photography exhibit on loan from another museum. Cute gift shop and very helpful staff (Eileen?). A nice thing to do in an afternoon. Highly Recommend

A terrific museum visit that helped me develop a much more thorough and nuanced appreciation of Hopper -- I say that as someone already pretty well-versed in 20th century art. Everything is well-curated and informative. My children were surprisingly well-behaved as well -- the museum does a great job of trying to engage younger visitors. While it's a small museum, it's very easy to linger for a good while. Standouts include the very accomplished artwork Hopper's mother did as an eight-year-old, Hopper's childhood sketch of a boy along the river on the back of his elementary school report card, and many ofd the early sketches that formed the basis of later famous paintings. Hopper's bedroom with the view of the Hudson and the distinctive light was very engaging. I only wish there was also a museum down the road in Joseph Cornell's boyhood home, also in Nyack, but not open to the public.
