Matt was a good tour guide. I was a little disappointed in the food offered on this tour, it was all carbs. Carbs and water you know what that means. Overall, I think the guided tour was good. He gave us a tour of a upscale restaurant, just to look at it and gave us some history on it. He did point out different areas of Philadephia

My husband and I recently visited Philadelphia for a date day for my birthday. We are from the Lancaster, PA area. As part of our trip we enjoyed the Flavors of Philadelphia food tour. Our tour guide, Matt, was awesome. He was friendly, personable, and clearly enjoyed his job. We enjoyed learning about the history of different things in Philadelphia and learned a great deal of new things about the city that we didn't know before. Regarding the food, perhaps, the food on the tour itself was better suited to people from out of the state. Being a Lancaster, PA local, there were two items on the food tour that I have eaten several times at home. It was a little disappointing to expect a tour of things I could "only get in Philly" and to have two items featured on the tour that I have several times a month at home. In the Reading Terminal Market, there was an ice cream stand that was one of the original's in the Market. That would have been an amazing item to have at the end of the tour, verses just looking at it. The pretzels were good and I get that they started in Philly, but maybe a local pretzel shop would have been more fun than one that is a chain. I guess, I was hoping for a more "hole in the wall" type experience. However, there were Texas locals on the tour with us who thoroughly enjoyed the tour. So I would definitely recommend this tour for people who are a little further from Philly, or for local people who are going on the tour more for history than for food.
