Wow! We cannot recommend this enough. There were six of us on a girls trip. We were in town for the food and wine festival. Decided to try this out on Monday. We did alter their tour a little. I will give you our complete details, I would highly recommend following the same.
We were picked up by Matt Allspaugh. If you can, request him! He was absolutely incredible. Informative, interesting, funny, kind. He went over the top for everything. We were running late, because we were having too much fun, and he contacted the second winery without us even asking. He took care of everything. Made this completely seamless. He was a photographer for us, he gave us great suggestions, I cannot say enough about this young man.
The first place they took us was salt lick BBQ. It’s included in the price. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning. It’s so beautiful. The food was great. Matt checked on us several times to make sure we were all set. Absolutely amazing.
Then he took us to Driftwood winery. The winetasting is an additional $15. This is recommended on their tour. It’s worth it for the amazing views. Wonderful photo opportunities. The people at the winery were fun and lovely. Definitely worth it.
Since we opted for a private tour, our second winery we decided to go off of their plan and we picked our own. We went to Wimberley Valley Winery. Highly recommend the place. Inside, the winery is absolutely stunning. If you can arrange some time to relax and stay there, I recommend it. Fun atmosphere, good wine, and informative hosts. You pay just under $20 for this tasting, but you get a souvenir glass all wrapped up beautifully to take home with you. Definitely put this winery on your list. Plus, on the drive there we got to see some fun and interesting animals.
If we go back to Austin, we would definitely do this Austin detours again. We would request Matt. At first, we were concerned about the price, it seems a little high. But it was worth every penny. You will not be disappointed.
