Highly recommending this trip. Our guide was Matt, and Allison was on tour as well that day. They were both fantastic-very friendly, gave great commentary, and were ready and willing to take those ever important photos!
The van is very comfortable and they provide water throughout the day. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the first stop-Salt Lick BBQ. Come hungry. The food was delicious and plentiful. Then you travel on to two wineries-we went to Driftwood Estate and Duchman. Each winery had a variety and, yes, Texas makes some good wine!! You pay for the tastings separate from the tour fee, and if you don’t want to taste at one stop, no problem.
We had about 45 minutes at each place. The only thing I’d change about this tour is to lengthen each winery stop about 15 minutes-enough to taste and then be able to take in the scenery as well. It did see a little “go go go,” but otherwise we had a fantastic time!!
If you are traveling to Austin and want to get a little taste of the Hill Country, take this tour with Austin Detours!
