Californians are very proud of our wineries. When I heard that Austin had an up and coming wine scene, it made for a great best friends getaway weekend! It was nice that we could literally walk the City streets to the Visitors Center for tour pick-up. The best souvenirs can be purchased a this amazing Visitors Center. Jax Washington was our driver and tour guide. What a lovely person! Jax has a dynamic personality for giving tours as this is seen her her love of Austin. The drive was comfortable and beautiful. The two of us were added to a large group of friends who were on the same tour to celebrate a birthday. Jax's goal was for all of us to leave the tour as friends but the larger group were very inclusive. We managed to have fun aside from them. Jax was very apologetic for having us on tour with a large private group. One thing happened out of the control of Austin DeTours. The first winery immediately on arrival, without a greeting or question, were told we were not allowed in the private tasting room because it was for a reservation tour. The lady clerk was totally surprised that we were part of that reservation. She had taken one look at the two of us and made us feel so unwelcomed based on an assumption that we could not and did not belong to the tour. Very sad there are still people who act this way in today's Metropolitan world. But as for Jax and the DeTour, we had a very nice day!
