We had a terrific day with Cooper Landing Fishing Guide. Our guide for the day was David Lisi and we can’t say enough about how much fun we had.
Reservations were easy to make and we quickly received confirmation and a personal email from David. He explained just about everything we needed to know before our trip and another email a couple of days before our trip confirming where and when to meet him.
The morning of our day with him, we met David mid-morning at an easy-to-find boat ramp (David provided a map of where to meet). There we were given waders and shoes and jumped into his truck for a short ride to the river.
On the way to the river, David did a great job explaining what we should expect for the day and the type of salmon we should expect to catch. He provided all the fishing equipment we would need and made it really easy for us to understand as we had never fished for salmon before. When we got on the river, he did a masterful job explaining where we would fish and gave us great demonstrations on how to fish.
It did not take us more than 10 minutes before the first salmon was landed. David said he would provide everything we would need and I agree. He did everything for us including demonstrating, coaching, encouraging netting fileting, and cleaning all the fish we caught. We are shipping home over 20 lbs of salmon filets.
All day, David shared great stories on the history of the area, explained how these fish live, how the river changes with the seasons, other animals that live on/near the river, and a little history of how he ended up in Alaska
If you are looking for the best time salmon fishing around Cooper Landing, we can’t recommend David highly enough. He truly made our salmon fishing dream trip come true.
