Ghost Stories and True Crime Walking Tour of the French Quarter

Aperçu
We couldn't decide if we loved ghost stories or true crime stories more, so we decided to do them both!

You can almost feel the history (and the spirits) as you walk through this 300 year old neighborhood and former Native American gathering place on the Mississippi River.

THIS is the sacred ground where centuries of unforgettable, intense characters have lived, loved, fought, celebrated, made music, and taken their last breaths. Energy like that does not fade away; in fact, it intensifies when we tell their stories as we walk through their streets.
We will share with you the stories of hauntings, murders, rituals, restless spirits, mischievous ghosts, and some things we just can't explain. Even skeptics love this tour, because everyone loves a good story!

The tour is 1.5 - 2 hours and covers about a mile in the world-famous French Quarter. Come after dinner and end in time for a night out on the town!

We signed up for this trip as part of a girls trip. Price was excellent, and the overall experience was fantastic. We received a text from our tour guide, Scott, about three hours before the meet up time. His text included all of the information about the meeting location and a picture of what the location looked like, which was extremely helpful. He also included information about the coffee shops and area around the meeting location in case we wanted to get a bite to eat or drink before starting. Once we met up, he went over a few brief rules and asked us all what our interests were. This allowed him to cater the tour to what people wanted to hear rather than just a generic scripted tour. Our group was really into true crime, we had one vampire lover, and a few people who liked the voodoo ghost theme. Scott was very good at providing information on all of these. The tour lasted about two hours, so we were on the long end. Scott was extremely informative and very good at incorporating true crime into the New Orleans’ voodoo ghost history. Unlike the other tour guides, Scott was very personable, down to earth, and kept it to facts and how they relate to New Orleans history. We really really appreciated that. We saw several other groups that had a lot of theatrics and costumes. They seemed more like they were there to create a show rather than to give information. Also, a lot of the information that I was hearing from other groups wasn’t quite accurate, but more of a hyped up story time, leaving out some of the historical facts. Scotts tour was very informative and very, very enjoyable. We moved at our own pace, got to ask questions, and stood out of the way of the other groups at different angles. They gave us a better opportunity for photographs. We even got to stop and learn about New Orleans weddings as a parade went by. Highly highly highly recommend! Cannot recommend Scott enough! Do this to tour and be prepared to walk :)

Thank you so much for this excellent detailed review! I am so happy that Scott provided you and your friends with the experience that you wanted and that will add to your memories of the fun trip! Scott knows the best stories and he also understands the history and the culture of New Orleans in an exceptional way. We do keep our groups small, which makes it easier to navigate around the busy French Quarter and the other larger groups. We believe in telling the history of New Orleans because it makes ghost tours more relatable and makes the true crime stories more relevant. Plus, the truth is often so much more interesting than even the most theatrical ghost story! Your lovely review will help us by getting more guests to sign up for our ghost tour and by giving those guests an honest and detailed idea of what to expect. We hope you include us in your plans next time you make a New Orleans stop! Libby

We went on this tour last weekend and it was fantastic! I had no idea there were so many apartments and hotels in the quarter that were "haunted"! Our tour guide, Libby, was extremely knowledgeable and able to tell us the full stories of all the buildings. I was really intrigued by the true crime stories. Libby even had her iPad with her so she could show us newspaper stories about the crimes. A very enjoyable evening!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our nighttime walking tour! Those “darker“ tales of the French Quarter are infinitely interesting and really showcase our colorful history! I do love to bring pictures from the old “true crime“ stories to see what the people of the era saw. There’s no place like New Orleans for interesting tales, and the French Quarter at night is where so many of those stories originated. Please come walk with me next time you are in New Orleans! I have more where that came from! Libby

Thank you so much for touring with us (twice!) and for taking the time to leave this fabulous review! New Orleans has countless fascinating stories to tell, and some of them are better told at night. I’m so happy that you were pleased with our tour, and I hope you come and tour with me next time you’re in town. Libby
