My husband and I booked a GoCar tour during a trip to San Francisco 5 years ago, and we had so much fun that we wanted to do the tour with our sons (ages 10 & 12) during a recent family vacation. We were able to get 2 cars as walk-ins, and didn't have any issues with helmets for the boys. The orientation video is ridiculously short. We were then put in cars and sent on our way. It was immediately clear that the cars hadn't been updated/maintained in a long, long time. The GPS system on both our cars was broken, but thankfully my older son was able to use Google Maps on my husband's phone and guide us through. The bigger issue was the brakes... My left brake didn't work at all, and the left brake was sketchy. I could feel the car slipping backwards when I was braked on steep hills. Yikes! That said, the boys had a blast, especially going down Lombard Street (which I white knuckled). It was fun seeing the looks on people's faces when they spotted us!
