If you drive one of these, get ready to be tailgated, harassed, and glared at by every car on the street. The locals hate these cars and will make sure you know it.
We did an all-day tour. Despite the salesperson claiming these cars were 100% safe, from the second we hit the road it was like our car was a moving hate-magnet. We got glares and jeers from the locals all day. People screaming at us to get off the road, stop polluting, drive faster. We were driving at top speed for these little cars but still fot tailgated nonstop for the entire day. It was extremely dangerous and anxiety-provoking.
They're incredibly noisy (which makes it difficult to focus on the tour itself) and make as much exhaust as a diesel-fueled semi (ironic for a city like San Francisco which claims to be environmentally conscious). Even if the locals were nicer, I would prefer to ride in a quieter electric vehicle.
I would never do this again in San Francisco and strongly warn everyone reading this to find another way to tour the city (like one of the many bus tours)
