We did the 3 night, 4 day train trip from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Our package included dinner that night (with an incredibly talented singer/guitarist!), and breakfast the next morning. We booked the luxury car, and I highly recommend it because you have lounge seating (never felt cramped) and there is an outdoor platform where you can watch the train go around the bends and see the beautiful scenery! Upon arrival at the Grand Canyon, we had added on to our trip a tour that included lunch at the Arizona Room at the Bright Angel Lodge. Food was good, and the view spectacular! Unfortunately, we had a freak snowstorm blow in just before we were to take our sunset tour, but back in Williams they credited us immediately for the cost of the tour (minus the lunch, of course) We spent the night at the Maswik Lodge (I don't recommend it...not very good customer service and room was not ready at the 3 pm check in time. We had to wait an additional 45 minutes...not cool, but not gonna wreck my vacation, either. While we were dithering at the hotel, we found a tour for the next morning that took us to the East ridge, with four stops, and almost 4 hours long. Perfect! Our guide, Robin, was very knowledgeable about the canyon and he kept us entertained. I highly recommend this tour! Oh, the view from the Bright Angel hotel is breathtaking, but aside from the Arizona Room ($$$), the food in the other dining area is barely passable. All in all, a wonderful little mini break!!
