4/5/2017 There were several in our group that had not ever ridden on a train before. So we elected to take the train to the Sough Rim of the Grand Canyon. We did not make reservations in advance. Purchased our tickets the morning of at the station. The Gentleman at the ticket window was very helpful in explaining our options and were and when we would need to board. After boarding the F car we pretty much had the back of the car to our self's (6 in our group) We were all in agreement that we got the better end of the deal versus the other cars. We walked back to the cafe (4 cars back) and after passing through the other cars. They were all full. Our attendant (Katy) was fantastic. Anyone should be so lucky to get her as there attendant. Katy was very knowledgeable about the area and the local history of Williams. She interacted with everyone and stopped to answer any questions we might have. ( She is a native of Williams, born and raised). From everyone in our group, we would like to thank Katy again for making this an enjoyable and memorable day on the train. You are the best. The entertainment was great from the guitar and banjo player to the train robbery. GOPRO GUY

Took the train from Williams into the Grand Canyon and spent the night in the park. Took our nine year old grandson. We had a blast! The conductors and singers in each car make the two hour train ride a fun experience in itself. Kathy with a K was delightful and we learned some new jokes and tricks. On the way back, there is a train robbery. We kept it a surprise for our grandson and he was thrilled! We saw a herd of elk! The Canyon was awe-inspiring. Glad we spent the night there. The Junior Ranger Program is taken very seriously and our grandson was proud of his badge. We took advantage of several range-led activities and learned some interesting things about the area and its history. And, of course, hiked down the awesome canyon! Perfect Spring Break trip with a youngster.

We were staying in Flagstaff and decided to take the train to the Grand Canyon. it had been years since we had visited the "Big Ditch" and wanted to view it again without driving. We enjoyed the gift shop before boarding the train. I splurged for the Dome tickets so we would have great views. The train was fun, but it was a lot slower than I expected, rarely going above 40 mph. They provided free coffee and juices, pastries, and fruit on the way up. A western guitarist/singer provided entertainment for a few songs. The trip took a little over 2 hours from Williams Arizona, about 30 miles West of Flagstaff. We spent a little over 3 hours at the canyon and ate a nice lunch at El Tovar. The trip back had a fiddler/comedianr and a train robbery. Everyone had to be "tipped.." The musicians worked a lot harder than the bank robbers, who just showed up to collect money. All in all, it was a fun trip, although somewhat expensive.
