We took the train from Williams to grand canyon and back. It had snowed that morning and was beautiful. There is a wild west show before the trip and the metal bleachers were snow covered but we sat and watched. The performers were friendly and fun. Good for kids. on the train there was a leisurely pace as we passed through ponderosa forest on through the high desert and then to the canyon. There was a musician who came along through part of the trip. Nice pastries and beverages were available free of charge on the first class tickets that we had. Once at the canyon we took a bus tour. first stop was lunch buffet and the Grand Canyon railway lodge. Service was efficient and food was good. Once we were done there was a little time to look through the gift shop. If I had known that there was free shuttle service through the park we might have skipped the bus tour and just gone around on own. Time might be tight though. It snowed on and off which made the day all the more memorable and crowds light. Remember that the canyon can be fogged in and you won't see it, something we hadn't considered. Fortunately it cleared by the time we had lunch. Back on the train and there was a train robbery, all in fun, and another musician. It was relaxing to travel along and experience a time gone before.
