We chose this tour based on reviews and it was even better than expected. Our tour guide, Molly, picked us up promptly at our hotel. She made a point of learning our names, introducing us to each other and using our names throughout the tour. The ride to the canyon takes about 90 minutes and Molly shared interesting facts about the area for most of the trip. We learned quite a bit about the terrain and history and about living in that part of AZ. such as truly live off the grid! Once in the GC Molly briefly showed us the Village, the main visitor site, and we appreciated that we would be avoiding the area. After researching a trip to the GC there were several areas which I had targeted ; they were all on the tour. Molly is quite knowledgeable about the canyon having offered hiking tours and hiking it herself numerous times. At each site she set up a scope and pointed out numerous sites which we would have totally missed with the aid of the scope and a knowledgeable guide. This greatly enhanced our trip. She allowed ample time at each site and took photos upon request. (Several times offering to take a few “dramatic” photos) She was very conscious of the need for regular bathroom breaks. There was a large supply of sweet and salty snacks along with water and sodas readily available on the tour bus (which is quite comfortable) The lunch was simply delicious. Sandwiches were freshly made on homemade bread with generous portions of meat and cheese. She nicely displayed a fresh fruit plate along with fresh sandwich trimmings which included avocados. The only down side to the lunch were the bees, which seemed to know just when the food was put out on the table. There was also a homemade pasta salad and scrumptious dressing(leftovers ours to take!) Honestly, we were so full from lunch that our dinner plans changed to something very light. The canyon is breathtakingly beautiful and Molly seemed to appreciate it’s beauty anew with each visit, which enhanced our visit also. On the ride back we stopped at a Navajo stand which proved to be nicer than the expected tourist trap. Respecting that we were a bit tired after the day in the canyon Molly was quiet on the drive back but freely answered any and all of our questions about the canyon or sites along the road back to Flagstaff.
