The tour was a whirlwind. The “breakfast” was continental and good, but there was no garbage bag within the bus to dispose of the boxes or empty bottles. Free water was great but again no where to dispose of them within the bus, and the water was not kept in a cooler and was warm. The bus was not inspected for cleanliness before it was put into service. There was a seat with coffee napkins on it that looked dry and disgusting. Obviously someone had spilled something before anyone got onto the bus. Jackie the tour guide neglected to pass on many interesting items that had been pointed out to us on a different tour the day before…she could have mentioned the Volcanic rock near the Hoover dam, or the history as seen on the wall exiting LV. The photo stop at the Hoover Dam was OK, but really a chance to dispose of the garbage. She started a video of the the Hoover Dam, but didn’t finish it. The tour of the Canyon was long enough for us “senior citizens” but if you are a hiker or someone who wants to get more into the experience, it would have been too short. We didn’t have time to glimpse at the Indian Village, or experience all there was. I think this tour could benefit from a guide and a driver. While Jackie was a good driver, she had a tendency to answer questions from those in the front of the bus without relaying what the question was, so those of us in the back were clueless. She also needs to cut down on personal stories and give more information on what’s going on. We drove through the Joshua Forest without a comment that we were there. She needs to slow down over speed bumps and cattle grates. Immediately upon starting the trip she began the litany of “do not be late, I will leave you.” Perhaps repeating this over an over is necessary..I don’t know. She did provide a good recommendation for dinner. Overall this tour was a method of transportation to get to the West Rim. My score is reflective of the experience of the West Rim, not the drive.
