This was one of the best tours taken (booked via GC tours website) but undertaken by sweet tours. You can book through GC tours (not grandcanyon tours) and you will end up paying somewhat less than on sweet tours website directly. Now the tour, comfortably picked up in a bus on time and from the hotel. One of the widest range of hotels are covered. Once picked up, they did a few more pickups that took around 30 min and by 7 10 or so, we were at the main point where everyone disembarked to catch their south or west rim buses (same operator). We were given nice small little breakfast package (Banana, bar, muffin) plus water bottle (as many) and a juice bottle. Once on board, our guide Jackie was knowledgeable and told us about different facts. Contrary to 20 min as advertised by other companies, we got a good 35 min on Hoover dam which is enough to treat your eyes. Just take pics from a little higher angle (person who is clicking should be on heels and not the people who are standing on the balcony who are getting clicked) and it would make sure you would have hoover dam with you in the picture. Next, we stopped at Dolan springs at a nice place which had some food, nice souvenirs from Arizona (I was told the honey there is good, I couldn't take it because of check-in issues but you can try it out). Next we passed through Joshua forest and reached Grand canyon west rim, all this way jackie told us fun and other facts and it was a treat to know so much about it. She might be doing it for years but well, it was all new to me. West rim has 3 main attractions, guano point, skywalk and Hualapai ranch. The only thing Jackie could have done better was to not advise us to not go to Hualapai ranch stating there is not much there. Well, for tourist everything is new. All the 3 attractions have shuttle buses inside coming after every 5 7 min so no need to panic if you miss one. They just keep on loading unloading at a great pace. Once inside and if you are on a bus tour, it is strongly advised to take the skywalk first as it can get crowded during the day. While taking the skywalk, if you are not to come there again and you know it, then go for the professional photographers (you can take camera or mobile there and have to rely on the professional photographers). The good side is the 10-15 pics they take are professional quality and in different poses including the below surface. The bad part is one printed pic will cost 16$ but the package is OK (65$ for all the 10-15 pics in soft copy + additional 20 pics of Grand canyon as a gift + a pen drive from their side). It's still a bit expensive but it’s a one-time experience and the package deal is much better. They even printed one pic as part of the package for me. Just outside the skywalk, there is enough space for you to take more pics as that area is not manned for cameras or mobiles (there is security). Dont go too near to the edges as you may fall down but few steps away and the pics would come nice. The lunch can be taken basis the coupon at guano point or Skywalk and it is strongly advised to take it at Guano point. Good options there for both veg (no meat, egg, fish contained food) and non veg. Next is guano point and its where you will get panoramic shots and the best view of the canyon in west rim. There is a small hiking trail and you can get up at some points to view 360-degree picture of the west rim. Just remain hydrated and that would be good. The souvenirs shop had some overpriced items but who cares. Just a caution for ladies, don't buy jewelry in the shop, mostly made in China or other places but if you need authentic jewelry there, then some Hualapai Indians would be there at the Guano point selling them, try those (I didn't get anything but saw tags of made in china in the shop). Next is Hualapie Ranch. Well this doesn't have Grand Canyon view but it’s about a town like structure of the native Hualapai Indians who own about 150+ acres of the Grand Canyon. The town like setting has some nice photographic shots including cowboy ranch, shooting, jail, bank etc. You can do horse riding here. You can spend about 20-30 min here since if you have gone this far, there is no point missing it as well. If you want to do horse riding or are interested in shooting (old style in a shop) then you can spend more time too. We spent about 3.5 hours there and I believe going by the other reviews, this is the most time in a west tour, you would be able to spend. For me, 40 min at Skywalk, 120 min at Guano point and 20 min at the Hualapai Ranch worked. Rest was shuttle transportation but take your call. We were dropped off comfortably by 5 30 PM to all our hotels which was good. Plan a buffer of 1 hour or so if you want to indulge in other activities in the evening or leave since it might get messy while coming back. I went on a Sunday and everything went fine. Thanks GC tours (sweet tours) for this and Jackie's tips were well taken. Would recommend taking this one if you have limited time and you want to be back to Las Vegas by 5 30 - 6 30 as this is the shortest trip of the 3 rims. Last one, December is chilly there so wear layers of clothing.

My Wife and I did the Hoover Dam and West Rim of the Grand Canyon Tour with Awesome Anthony on the Awesome Bus and it was fantastic! Anthony did a great job of giving us a great tour and very informative information. He had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed his job. Anthony offered very good advise on how much time to spend at each area of the West Rim. The bus was comfortable and the hotel pick up and drop off was well executed. Two thumbs up for this tour, tour company and especially Awesome Anthony!
