Our favorite part was spotting the Big Horn Sheep. Brian set up the spotting scope so we had excellent views of them. Then he found some lower on the hill so we could get great photos.

Our tour guide, Brian, was amazing! Very informative about the animals, the land and the history of the area. We had a great time with him and enjoyed getting to see moose, coyotes, a bald Eagle, and big horn sheep. Definitely a tour we would recommend!!

Well, where to begin…. First, I was billed $22 more than the total cost shown on the web site. It went down hill from there. The touring van wasn’t really meant for sightseeing. Windows on our row didn’t line up with the seats. 3 seats on one side and 1 on the other tells me this was a repurposed transportation van. No signage on the outside of the van lead me to believe the tour company picked this van up to accommodate an over-booking. We had to scrape the ice off the inside of the windows to see anything. No defrost on any windows but the front windshield. Finally, the content of the tour. The 4.5 hour tour could easily be condensed into a 45 minute tour. Only when we entered the ‘no entrance fee’ Elk Reserve was there much of anything to see. Once there, we saw some long-horned sheep on the mountain sides and right up along side the van. That was worthwhile but it was the last 1/2 hour of the tour that seemed more like a joy-ride down the highway to look at a few scenic spots. The driver tried his best to keep us occupied relating anecdotal stories about the area and his personal life, but there was just too much driving and not enough wildlife. Save your money. Forget the Winter Wilderness Tour. Drive yourself through the Elk Reserve (there is no charge) and then head to the $30 Sleigh ride through the Reserve for a close up look at the Elk.

Ouch, where do you begin with this one? I remember speaking with these folks about the price, they booked through a third party, Viator, they did not book directly with us. Some third party booking companies have different rates than booking directly, I explained this fact but I guess the nuance was lost on them. As far as the van is concerned it is a brand new Ford Transit van which we just put into rotation, we pride ourselves in our quality late model vehicles used on tour. Not sure what the problem they had with the seat arrangement? I have never heard of anyone complaining about the seat arrangement. This tour did take place during the coldest week we have had all winter, I think it was almost -15 degrees F the morning of the tour, extremely cold temps do make it difficult to keep the windows frost free, even with the most up to date equipment. The cold temps also can keep the animals from moving around much, they don’t always cooperate. A drive up north to view the stunning Teton Range is a must, even if the wildlife viewings are tough. This tour typically receives 5 stars, it is unfortunate to encounter hyper critical travelers, but occasionally it happens.
