I had never been on a kayak before. Two person kayak and I was in the front. I had pulled my leg out a week before our Kauai trip and was still able to try this adventure. Our guide, Daniel Havas, was so very helpful to me. Helped me in/out of the kayak and stayed with us up the River until we got the hang of it. What a Treasure he was. Very informative and a fun guy. It was a Beautiful trip down the Wailua River to our Forest destination. I stayed back, as I was not able to make the hike up to the falls. It was Peaceful and quiet being alone and eating my lunch. Although, I admit, I did ask Daniel what to do in case a feral pig came along....He smiled and jokingly said get a stick! So I grabbed my oar as I sat alone....Hahahaha! Too Much Fun! PS If you have to go to the bathroom while on this River, you have to use the Forest :)

This past Monday, we visited The Hidden Falls, which consisted of a 2 mile kayak trip, followed by a 2 mile hike, a lunch. After lunch, we returned the same way we arrived (hike, kayak). We knew immediately that we would enjoy the trip when we were introduced to our tour guide, Daniel. The tour started at 8:45am, and was a great way to start the day. We were back to our cars by about 1:30 or 1:45pm. Daniel was very entertaining and educational, whether it related to the use of the kayaks, the trip we were taking, the vegetation, as well as the native Polynesians who used to live on the land we were hiking. It was a wonderful adventure, and he called us an "adventurous" group. The 'hidden falls' was less than spectacular. If your goal with the tour is to see the best waterfall in Kauai, you'll be disappointed, as there are better waterfalls. If your goal is to have an active day touring the island, and seeing a decent waterfall, this is the tour for you. I'd recommend this trip for couples as well as families with teens. It would, however, be hard and overly challenging if there wouldn't be 2 able bodied people able to paddle the kayak. The wind along the river on the return trip made for a more challenging kayak trip than the trip away from the ocean. I'm sure all the tour guides are great, but we couldn't have asked for a better guide than the 8:45 tour guide, Daniel.

We had a wonderful tour with Kayak Adventures kayaking down the beautiful Wailua River. Our trip led us 2 miles down the waterway to a secluded area where we left our boats and began our hike through the lush green Kauai rainforest. We ended at the beautiful Secret Falls, stopping for lunch and a refreshing dip in the pool underneath. Our guide Andy was laid back, patient, and friendly as well as an encyclopedia of knowledge about the island's plants, animals, and history. Our group consisted of individuals with all levels of kayaking/hiking experience and the tour was appropriate for everyone. A great introduction to the inland waters and forest of beautiful Kauai!
