Half-Day Guided Kayak Tour on Knik River

Aperçu
New in 2023!
Experience Alaska on the original roads and routes aka its rivers and lakes. This tour transverses one of the most sublime landscapes and panoramic views in all of Southcentral Alaska and the Mat Su Valley. You will find salmon swimming under your paddle craft as they migrate to their spawning grounds. Also, expect to see ducks and eagles fly overhead and maybe even find a moose standing in the water eating a meal.

This tour starts by paddling across Jim Lake and then a short overland portage into Jim Creek.
Finally, exit on the beach of the Knik River that flows from the Knik Glacier, and while there get some pictures with the glacier in the background. The Knik Glacier is the headwaters of the Knik River and is the largest glacier in Southcentral Alaska. After this brief pause to take some photos, and view the scenery, we will continue our paddle down the Kink River to our exit point of the old Knik River Bridge.

We were a group of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) that had a wonderful time on this kayak tour. We took the 3:30 1/2 day tour and the weather and the views were just perfect. We particularly enjoyed the variation in waters that we went through from the initial lake to a fresh water river to a glacially fed river. Great introduction to kayaking for our crew. Thank you Paddle Sports by True North AK!

This tour company is a fraud. They had no waivers signed, no safety measures. Asked the infant to sit by herself for 4 hours or 5 people on the same kayak. It was a dirty creek and not a river where they were operating from. No tour office or no others people for the tour. It was the tour operator and his family at the place. Super dirty car pick up. Altogether a nightmare. So, we ended up not doing the tour and asked him to drop us back to the meeting point. It is a fake and fraudulent tour.

We sincerely apologize once again, to your family, that your trip was not what you expected. We gave you a complete and full refund no questions asked, in a very timely manner post-trip. Secondly, we did everything in our power to make your experience safe (properly fitted life jackets for everyone, extra kayaks, emergency supplies, emergency plans, experienced local guides, etc.). However, as you have pointed out in your review, post-trip communications, and while on the tour there seems to have been a misunderstanding of what our trips are/ what you were looking for. The trip you booked was a moderate kayaking tour in The Alaska Wildlands. We offered your family the exact kayak trip that was booked by a Trip Advisor/Viator agent for your family. We ask people to read the full trip description on Trip Advisor/Viator or reach out to us with questions before booking to ensure this is the right trip for you since the Trip Advisor/Viator agents are not a part of our small family-owned and operated company. They however are a booking agency that books our trips. Once again we apologize for the miscommunication that led to your family having an unexpected experience. We appreciate your feedback and have taken it under advisement. We wish you the very best in your travels. Sincerely, The Owners of Paddle Sports by True North AK
