Next stopping point is the Fremont Troll where you can take some time to get some photos of this one of a kind piece of public art. As we drive through Fremont you'll see a 16' tall statue of Bolshevik Russian Communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin. Your guide will share with you how this statue arrived in Seattle and the story behind its history.

During the months of September-March, we will visit Fisherman's terminal home of the Pacific fishing fleet.

During the months of March thru August, ​we stop at the locks. At the Ballard Locks, you may see migrating salmon going through the locks system during the summer months, Sea Lions, Eagles and maritime traffic as they navigate this engineering marvel. Approximate time at the locks is a half hour, giving you time to explore the locks and fish ladder. (Note: This stop is not on tour September 1st-March 1st. See booking page for more info) Winter Tour Notes From October 29th thru March 1st, we do not stop at the locks due to the lack of boating activity and an empty fish ladder.

Highly recommend this tour company and Terry, our tour guide. Best tour we've taken during or after any of our many cruise vacations. Terry is so knowledgeable of the Seattle area. He's very entertaining and gives great photography tips to make our vacation photos the best. Our private group tour of 8 adults was a day long tour in a comfortable 12 passenger van. We had a red-eye flight home after our cruise disembarkation, so this tour helped fill our day instead of sitting at SeaTac airport for 12 hrs. We combined 2 tours. Seattle City/Snoqualmie Falls & Boeing Aircraft factory tour. We had a wonderful seafood lunch between the 2 tours. Terry had bottled water and snacks on the van if we needed more nourishment. Prices are very reasonable & much better than anything booked through the cruise ship. I have recommended this tour company to my travel agent Shutter Tours is the one to use for all your Seattle sightseeing. You won't be disappointed. Make your arrangements before your trip. They will respond quickly to your email query.

Having arrived in Seattle without too much pre-planning I was delighted to find that Shutter Tours had availability on their Snoqualmie Falls and City Tour. The tour offers hotel pick up and drop off in downtown and belltown and they call you the day before to let you know the exact pick up time - if, like me, you have a UK mobile and can't receive calls, get your hotel concierge to call them the day before and get the time for you. After everyone is on board the spacious and light bus you travel out of the city, across lake Washington and out to the Falls. There are two main viewing points to view the Falls. As the company name suggests, the guide offers great tips and advice on how to take the best photos (he is a former professional travel photographer) and can help you get the best out of your camera, from iPhones to professional digital cameras. He is also happy to take photos of you with the places you visit on the tour. After leaving the Falls and heading back into the City you get to visit the Fremont Troll, the shop at the chocolate factory, the locks (where you can watch the migrating salmon, see boats pass through the locks and see boats that appear in the tv programme Deadliest Catch). You also visit Kerry Park for some great views over the city and beyond. The whole tour lasts about 4hours, not including pick up times. I had a great morning and met other solo travellers along the way - tour suitable for couples and families too. The guide carries water and snacks on board that are free. The tour runs daily but if you are travelling in high season, I'd recommend booking ahead online.

We went on the Snoqualmie Falls and City Tour. Terry is a nice guy and provided a lot of information on Seattle, history and current, as well as helpful tips on taking good photos. The photo tips were appropriate to the type of cameras and degree of interest of the group - in other words, it was not overdone and boring. This tour was a great way to get outside of the downtown Seattle area and see attractions that we otherwise would not have gotten to see since we did not have a car. The Falls are beautiful (we got some great photos there), and the Ballard Locks are very interesting. I guess the Fremont Troll is a 'Seattle thing' that we can check off our been-there-done-that list, though we found it to be bizarre - the things that become tourist attractions! Kerry Park, as promised, was a good place to get photos with the city as the backdrop. The chocolate stop seemed a bit odd. Do not get me wrong, I like chocolate, but being dropped off at a shop to run in and taste their free samples was strange. If the chocolate tour had been included, it might have made more sense (that takes an hour though). I would have preferred a stop at the Japanese Gardens. We drove past, and Terry mentioned that the wisteria was probably beautiful right now. He said we could take public transportation to come back and see it. :( This tour involves a LOT of riding around in the shuttle. Obviously, much of that is necessary to get to the sites, but besides that, there is quite a bit of driving around and pointing things out. There were a few places where we would have liked to be able to stop for a couple of minutes and get a photo. We had to settle for attempting 'drive bys' through the windows. I understand that you cannot stop everywhere and that there is not enough time to do so; however, since this is a photo tour, it would be nice if a couple more photo ops could be given.
