The ride was relaxing and seeing the whales was exhilarating! Family of four who played for us and had a feeding frenzy go on right there in front of us!

While this tour was beautiful, there was a lot of information we were unaware of that made this a 3. First, this is at least a 6 hour boat ride. We boarded at 10 am and did not get off the boat until approximately 4 pm. Secondly, these whales are not marked or tracked in any way so this is truly a hunting excursion. Third, in the State of Washington boats are not allowed to get within 200 yards of any whale so you will not be anywhere near them at all. To get the pics attached my camera on my phone was at 18x. They recommend you buy the professional photographs from your ship but don't give you anyway to preview the flash drives ($20, I believe). We did "see" a pod of killer whales but other than a huge dorsal fin, you wouldn't have known what it was. Lastly, the moderator on our ship had the most high pitched whiney voice that I've ever heard (think Mickey Mouse) everytime she picked up the microphone the whole boat just cringed. Tips: call and ask which parking garage they validate for, we didn't park there because we were unaware. Sit in your assigned seat, once and if they see the whales they will stop and everyone just flocks to the 3rd floor. It didn't give us any advantage to actually sit up there.

We arrived at FRS Clipper for the whale watching trip and they said they did not have our reservation. FRS researched it and found that FRS rejected the Viator order I placed on Thursday morning. However Viator sent a confirmation text to me on Friday so I could only assume that the order was placed. We traveled 3,000 miles to visit our son who just moved to Seattle and the four of us were stuck with no whale watching trip on a Saturday and all places booked up the entire Labor Day weekend - the entire duration of our trip. I was admittedly furious!! I have names of FRS staff who can confirm this story. EXTREMELY poor way of doing business. I will never use Viator again!!
