After leaving Harlem Heritage Tourism and Cultural Center we will visit historic Harlem church fir one hour. The power of pray and beautiful music will leave you enchanted and inspired. After gospel church service we will engage in 2 hour cultural walking tour covering 400 years of Harlem history with special emphasis on 20th century Harlem. Along the way see beautiful architecture, historic music / jazz clubs, civil rights movement sites, theaters and many historic churches of various denominations.

Interesting experience to learn a little about Harlem and about the baptist practices. August 7 we could see the annual christening party at the street. Very impressive.

Tour guide Neal led us through the history of Harlem and it’s significance in the civil rights movement and our country’s history. Attending the service at Canaan Baptist Church and walking where giants like Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Malcom X walked was inspirational. Great value. (They should charge more.) Highly recommend.

I am sorry but I have learned virtually nothing on this trip. There was no multimedia presentation in the beginning. We were taken to the church and sat 2 hrs straight during the whole mass, gospel was maybe 30% of the whole experience. Then the guide walked us through some streets but like I said, I have learned virtually nothing about the history of the area. I am not even sure if the guide has any professional training, for sure he had no historical background but also did not really care if we understand what he was saying (normally the guides speak loudly and clearly since they are aware most participants are not native English speakers, but not in this case). Wouldnt pay USD 45 again.
