  • Traffic and parking can be very difficult and October is much worse with "LA Level" traffic. Give yourself extra time to get here and park no matter what your GPS is telling you. Check our website for details on where to park and options to get here..
  • Our public walking tours can pose challenges for participants with mobility and accessibility concerns. Tours are 90 minutes long and about one mile in length. Each participant must be able to complete the one-mile tour within 90 minutes, providing for frequent stops to view sites and for information from the tour guide. As Salem is a historical city, there are narrow and uneven sidewalks, bricks, cobblestones, and stairs. We attended the 7pm tour on Saturday October 28th. Our tour guide was awful. He was terrible at telling stories and gave the most brief descriptions. We did a different tour last year with a different company that was so much better. We were also walking so fast and barely anyone could keep up with the guide. We definitely lost a good chunk of our group of 35 (which was already a big group). Our guide would arrive at a stop and begin speaking when maybe 5 people were with him. He was done by the time the rest of the group caught up. We were so frustrated with this tour. We didn’t learn anything and all we did was frantically follow our tour guide who we nearly lost several times. I absolutely would not recommend this tour.

We keep our tour groups to 35-40 people while other companies go 50 or more. This makes it easier to get to the locations and gives ample time for people to catch the group before the guide starts talking. All of our guides use microphones so they are very loud. The crowds start coming to Salem in mid September. A weekend in October can be witness to 100,000 people a day and you need to prepare for that. The city ordinance reads 40 max and we adhere to that. October and Halloween can be noisy so the guides use amplifiers so everyone can hear.
