This hike is one you can only take with the Forest and Trail crew since it is on private property, there were even locals in our group. Beautiful views, the lava tube was such an awesome thing to see as well! Our guide Melanie was so knowledgeable and friendly, couldn't have asked for anyone better. Highly recommend!

This is one of the best tours I have been on. Secluded and not open to the general population. Our tour guide Mark was fantastic. His knowledge and spirit were something to behold. My wife and I usually do the regular tourist thing but found out about this and decided to give it a try. Only 8 people so it was really small and the people were great. Marks knowledge of birds, trees and everything local and native made for a great experience. The climb was not that hard but the views and memories will last a lifetime. Climbing through a lava tube was really cool. It really is hard to describe what the experience was like. Peaceful, mentally refreshing are just a few things I can describe. It truly was one of the best experience I have had on a tour and Mark was big reason for that. My wife and I Will be telling everyone we know about this.

GREAT TRIP. An early start with our wonderful guide, Mark, for an inspiring day on a little shard of Hawaii learning of its birth and evolution over time. Transportation to lovely hike 4000’ up, some lava tube viewing, all the while learning of the geology and botany in many microclimates. Then the Apapane and Iiwe honeycreepers vocalizing and showing themselves, occasionally, was a highlight. The added touch of some Hawaiian Cultural beliefs, respect for the land-flora and fauna, rounded out the tour with lunch in fern grove setting as the clouds and mist enveloped us.
