We had the privilege of being guided for two hours through Charleston's streets by Bill, a true historian passionate and knowledgeable about all things past, but particularly about Charleston and its beginnings. Because of Bill's approach and explanations, we felt so much better informed about the colony's true foundations, struggles, and motives than had he just pointed out fancy houses and who had owned them. He really made us think and helped us understand that era. I'm so glad we did this first. It was an absolutely great tour that shaped the rest of our stay in Charleston! As a side note, we were happy we took the morning tour, wore hats, and brought water, because even though Bill kept us in the shade a lot, the heat later would've been a detraction. Also, considering the pace and group size, we walked the historic district again later to take photos on our own. The satisfaction of this walking tour is found in the rich history shared by Bill.
