The Bitterroot National Forest is an incredibly beautiful and rugged place with amazing mountains and deep glacial canyons. The trails are not always well maintained, and often times seasonal creeks will deter folks who aren't used to water crossings. You'll be glad you brought a guide along!

The hike and packraft float is an experience unique to Bitterroot Backpacking. You will not find any other guide or company providing this service! (And if you do, they probably found the idea here!)

My husband and I together with our 7 years old border collie went on a 2-day custom backpacking trip with Bitterroot Backpacking. This was our first backpacking trip, and we had a blast. Our guide, Luke (the owner of Bitterroot Backpacking), was fantastic. Well prepared, extremely knowledgeable and incredibly encouraging. Luke has amazing navigational skills. We felt safe at all times during the trip. The scenery was spectacular. Highly recommend Luke and this business. First rate service from start to finish.

My family of five had a wonderful experience with this company. Luke the owner was our personal guide and was amazing. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and backpacking in general. We learned a ton and had a blast. We hiked to Camas Lake, ate lunch relaxed and we were able to catch absolutely beautiful trout ( too many to count). A fun, educational and safe experience for our entire family. Oh and I forgot to mention- no crowds, no lines just you and the outdoors. Do not hesitate! Book Luke for a trip. You will not regret it.
