Jimmy was our fabulous guide. He paced the tour perfectly to our ability. He showed us old pictures of historic sites and facts. We learned so much about historic Tucson. We enjoyed fresh pumpkin empanadas on a rest break. The bike tour was definitely worth the time and effort. After our tour ended, Jimmy was so kind to escort us to "The Congress Bar" in downtown to meet the oldest bartender in town Tiger. Thank you Jimmy for a great tour. I found out Jimmy is famous this week after I watched a PBS series "Family Travels with Coleen Kelly". They filmed a historic Tucson bike tour with Jimmy. Congratulations!!

Thanks for letting me know how you found out about me! Sometimes it's obvious how folks find me, like when they walk in with a clipping from the NYT, but usually it's not so obvious.

If you want to get a good overview of Tucson, then doing it by bike is the way to go. Jimmy is a great guide. His knowledge on all subjects Tucson is impressive. Wasn't a question he couldn't answer. There was only three of us which made it nice. Pace was just right and it is a very flat terrain. I would definitely recommend this particular bike tour.

Unfortunately, the city of Tucson has eroded into an ever increasing haven for street people and aggressive panhandlers. A much safer and actually visually appealing option is renting a bike and riding the loop. If you want to see some of the historic sites in and around downtown the best option is to do it in a group with a guide.

Well, there are somethings to unpack in this review. 1. "If you want to see some of the historic sites in and around downtown the best option is to do it in a group with a guide." - I agree. Thanks! 2. Homeless - While there are indeed homeless people in Tucson, they are unfortunately everywhere in the USA. Tucson actually has about half the national average on a per capita basis, based on the nationwide count in January. And as far as the aggressive part goes, I strongly disagree. Everyone has different experiences, but I've never witnessed aggressive panhandling here, not once. It's usually just somebody chilling at the side of the road. Heck, I've seen homeless dudes in front of the co-op watch customers' dogs for free when they go inside to shop. I should have stopped at the Garden of Gethsmane on your tour. Sometimes I do. It is a sculpture garden made by a WWI homeless veteran who was repaying his debt to God. Homelessness is a complicated issue, lots of mental health stuff, but they are far more likely to be victims of crimes than commit them. 3. Renting a bike and riding on the Loop is indeed nice. I don't think it's more scenic necessarily than my tour route, and it certainly has less variety and no historical sites. It is an awesome resource though. That's why my tour includes a section of the Loop. 4. "Underwhelming and overpriced." I'm bummed you felt that way. Nothing I can do about the underwhelmed part. But I definitely can do something about the overpriced sentiment. If you can find a similar type of bike tour (11 miles, 2 to 2.5 hours, max 8 riders, local bakery included, a safety oriented guide that knows tons about the city) for less than what I offer on my website (tucsonbiketours), then I'd be happy to refund the difference. I always want to provided a fair value . . . cause I'm rather frugal myself! Thanks for opportunity to write . . . usually it's just a quick "thanks for the review!"
