Having never been on a bike tour before, I found the Pretty Gritty Arts District Tour to be not only fun, but informative. I’ve lived in LA for ten years, but had barely ventured into the arts district. So this was a great way to get an overview of an up-and-coming area of downtown, while also burning a few calories. This tour covers a lot of ground, with plenty of time to explore a couple of the galleries on foot. I especially enjoyed the Hauser & Wirth gallery, which was showing some amazing works by Mike Kelley. I learned about the history/architecture of many of the old factory buildings, as well as plans for future use, and the direction in which the neighborhood is heading. I felt the tour was a good primer for the area, and I plan to return to some of the gift shops and restaurants in the future. I’m eager to take the Historic Core tour as well, as biking is an excellent way to cover a lot of ground, especially if you are a tourist with limited time. All in all, a great tour and a great value!
