This tour company knows customer service. First of all, their Aurora Guarantee is what saved our trip. Keep reading for the full story.
The first night we went out it was originally forecasted to be a clear night with good chances to view the Aurora. Well, the clouds never left, so we didn’t get to see Aurora other than a little glowing behind the clouds. Even though the clouds were covering everything, the guides all made sure we still had an enjoyable time with reindeer sausage hot dogs, popcorn, and unlimited warm beverages. They had a trailer we could escape to if it was too cold or we could go also onto the heated sprinter van. We were bummed (obv no one can control nature so it was in no way the fault of the company), but thankful that we still had a nice time.
Fast forward to the next morning: I wake up with a text from the tour company offering us a second chance of going out (for free) or a 50% refund. Well, we didn’t travel all the way to Alaska in the winter to give up after one bummer night, so we chose to go out again. SO GLAD we did because we had beautiful Aurora ALL NIGHT. Andrew (our driver both nights) even pulled over to have us see it a few times on the way to the primary photo location. Even though it was our second night we still got drinks and reindeer sausage and were treated with a lot of care and fun. The photographer photos were *chef’s kiss* and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.
Questions you might have that I can answer:
1. We were picked up around 9:30-9:45 both nights and dropped off around 3am.
2. Yes there were bathrooms at both locations we visited, but they are bathrooms you’d find at a campground. Basic, get the job done, and cold (but what do you expect from going into a forest/lake area).
3. Reindeer sausages were bomb. They had regular, spicy, and a vegan option as well. They had loads of sauces and you could choose to have it with a bun or not.
4. You are staying up LATE. Prepare yourself. But so worth it if you get to see the Aurora.
5. We took tons of photos with the photographers and the unedited
ones were included in the tour. They also have edited versions you can purchase.
6. They do a Timelapse video and it’s fantastic. I am obsessed with the copy they sent me. 23 got our photos 3 days after the tour so that was a quick turn around.
7. Overall really nice group of people putting this on. We had at least 10 staff working all night either taking photos, replenishing supplies, keeping the fires going, working the reindeer sausages, etc.
8. Was it worth it? My gosh, YES. Bucket list item!!
