I was flown onto an aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin on a mission while in the army. This was the first time back on a carrier since then. It brought back memories of being on the deck when planes were landing and taking off. My grandson was with me and we both thought going on Baird the Intrepid was a highlight!

Planes and shuttle were amazing and well worth the trip-it was just too hot to be spending any time there-no shade!!!!!!

There was so much to see and take in so we decided to take our time and spend the whole day there. Pros: the kamikaze experience Cons: the staff! All of the staff in the food places were so miserable and rude but still expected a tip! But the worst of the lot was a guide “Manny” who we had the misfortune of meeting in the Growler. My husband and I are of South Asian heritage but born and raised in London, UK. “Manny” was very kind and polite to a white father and his teenage son who were ahead of us, spending over 5 minutes talking to them about the exhibit, explaining the history and offered to take their photo at the exhibit while we waited silently and patiently. When it was out turn he literally walked away ignoring us and went to speak to the people behind us. He had the actual audacity to bark at us to hurry up as people were waiting. We waited patiently and he didn’t seem to care about that. We weren’t even at the exhibit for longer than a minute. “Manny” fix up - you are not even white yourself!!! Although this racist, ignorant (and most likely uneducated) ‘man’ soured our Growler experience - we didn’t let this racist win and went on to enjoy the rest of our day.
