For 200+ dollars per person the show and food should be better, Shaw wasn’t visible behind people sitting at front, the food was cold

We attended the luau on December 11 and we had a fantastic time. The food was good and plentiful there was chicken fish rice corn some kind of noodle & salad. You get 2 drink tickets per person that can be for alcohol or nonalcoholic beverages. They also have water and some kind of juice that is as much as you want that comes with the dinner. The show itself was very energetic and interesting as they went through different Polynesian cultures and how they dance. So you get to see the difference in the dances as well as the dress in different cultures. At The end they have two different guys come out that are doing the fire knife dances. Audience interaction is encouraged and you get a mini hula lesson.

I cannot think of anything that was good about this Luau. It was my first Luau and based on the advertisement, I was excited to experience this cultural event. But after the evening experience, I really fell I am owed a refund. To begin with, we were greeted 30 minutes late and after brief instructions and ice-breaker, we were allowed enter the park to receive drink tickets and lei. The Luau Host moderated pre-show entertainment, but I would have preferred going right into the experince or some of the activities shown in the advertising videos. The only audience participation was to stand and learn a dance, none of the entertainers were in the audience, no pre-show activities like those shown in the advertisement. Finally, when the food was served it was served in a paper carry-out box and it was cold. Having shown the audience "the pig" and the cooking process, including how long it took until prepare it, then parade the cooked pork around for a "photo opp", one would expect to eat pork as part of the meal, instead some of the guest had pork and fish, while others had chicken and fish...really?!?!? The best part of the cold meal was the salad. Why who the elaborte buffet if if you using paper carry out boxes? The dancers were straight out of a dance studio, not authenic, Not that I have anything against youth and training, but I did not feel the cultral connection, instead of dancers who were expressing their culture, it was these skinny youthful bodies. A total disconnect culturally. And, stop with the Christmas music already....we expected to hear island songs. It was cold and windy. Why not have an optional venue for inclement weather?
