Came with a group of 11 family members and had so much fun the rays were huge and we felt safe the whole time! There were about 4-7 rays that were right in our faces one touched me try not to touch them unless they touch you!

In our group of 6 some were very nervous to swim with the mantas and others very excited. In the end, everyone was so happy they did it. 3 large mantas swam and flipped right next to us almost the entire time we were out in the water. This company was well-run and organized, and we are so happy we went to see the manta rays. It was a short trip, but probably all that my family with youngish kids needed (5 minute boat ride, ~30 minutes in the water). I took off one star because the area where the tour takes you is packed with other groups all crammed together so it was loud, most of the guides were chatting with each other instead of their various groups, there seemed to be some scrambling for spots among the different groups. Overall, we were able to tune most of that out while snorkeling and had a very fun and unique experience.

Mahalo Mandy for the trip report. 1st we are so glad our staff were able to make you feel comfortable. As for the observation area and the popularity of the Hahalua (Hawaiian for manta)... Our state's DLNR is experimenting with new ways to help find balance in sharing the manta and the need to not over stress the environment. Also, if you want to join the cause, Hawaii now recognizes a weekend in Sept as Manta Day and host an event for the researchers, services providers, and public to share and learn about these amazing animals. I had luck and saw the amazing manta rey. The snorkeling was good organized . But no Pick up service and in the middle of nowhere. Some gyus did not see any mantua, be aware it is always a risk not to see them. The organizing company was not very flexible ..
