Drove down from Key Largo. The drive took about 2 1/2 hrs with the different speed limits and the two lane highway. I always wanted to follow route 1 down to the end. After doing this we drove around quite awhile looking for a parking spot close to Mallory Square. We found one about two blocks away. You have to use the pay stations located in the middle of the street to get a ticket to place in your window. It was $4.00 an hour. the trolley is located in Mallory Square. It leaves every 15 min. As soon as I bought tickets for my wife and I, we were on the trolley with only six other people and on our way. THe young lady driver was very informative and funny. She took her time and explained all the historic places we were seeing. Even though we didn't get off till near the end, you were able to get off at any of the 13 stops and do all the sightseeing you wanted to do on your own the re-board the next trolley when it came by(which was every 15 min.) The day we were there was on and off again rain. The trolleys are equipped with roll down heavy clear plastic to cover the windows , so if the rain gets to bad you wont get wet. Our driver said she didn't like to use the plastic and since it wasn't raining very hard she passed out free ponchos to all of us to wear. If you are curious about the cost of the 1 1/2 hr. tour for my wife and I the total with tax was $83.90. They do not give a AAA discount.
