We bought tickets to the trolley tour and decided to ride around the full circuit once and then decide where we wanted to get off. When the trolley got back to the first stop at Mallory Square, we were told to transfer to the trolley in front of us as it was the next to leave. When we asked how long that would be, we were told 25 minutes so we just sat there, wasting time. We got off at the Hemingway House and did the tour and then walked to Duval Street for lunch and to pick up the next trolley. We could see the trolley coming and waved at it but by the time we got across the street to the official trolley stop, it had pulled out without us. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for the next trolley to come by to pick us up. We had intended to visit the Butterfly Garden but by the time the trolley made it back to that stop, we would have only had 30 minutes at the attraction before closing time. Therefore we settled for getting off at the Southernmost Point, which we had already seen when we visited with a cruise ship in 2002. All in all, we wasted a heck of a lot of our day waiting on trolleys and getting around the route to the points of interest we wanted to see. I'm now thinking that taking Lyft or Uber would have probably cost us the same or less and we could have gotten to the attractions we wanted to visit quicker and taken better advantage of our one day in Key West.
