Histoire de Lancaster et promenade de la bière artisanale

Aperçu
Content rich and carefully researched, you will get an insider's pass to the past, with stories and context that bring the city alive and guarantee an experience unavailable anywhere else. We’ll explore the rich and fascinating history of our beautiful city and learn the out-sized roll our small city played in the birth and growth of America as you stroll through charming streets and alleys and begin to understand the building blocks that take us to the present day.
Sound great? Well there is still much more.
During our old city history walk, we will whet our whistle at some of Lancaster’s finest craft beer establishments – and the history isn’t over. You will learn how much of our colorful past is tied to beer. From the Revolutionary War to 19th century Lager Breweries to amazing tales of prohibition ingenuity, the beer flowing through the taps comes from the present day but reaches back across the last two centuries - and it's delicious!

Mike is an amazing tour guide! He’s well versed in Lancaster history. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the city while he pointed out so many interesting historical references. The beer/beverage stops were pretty cool places to sit and have drinks. We ended up going back the next evening! We are grateful for such a wonderful experience in Lancaster. Thank you Mike!!!

My friend and I did this walking tour on a beautiful Saturday in October. Mike was a very knowledgeable guide. He knew a lot about the history of Lancaster and had great enthusiasm. The two brew pubs we frequented at the end were an added bonus and the drinks were included as well.

My two best friends and I savored the history and the beer in equal measure. Michael has a relaxed but professorial style which holds your interest throughout. He is justifiably proud of the efforts made by so many to restore and preserve the history of his home town. The tour route is well conceived and consistently interesting. There is so much more to Lancaster than The Amish (which are never mentioned). Highly organized, Michael came equipped with extra umbrellas (which we needed). But for his being from the blue side of the Dickinson vs. F&M rivalry - he was perfect. Our tour of Lancaster was the highlight of the weekend. Learned the origin of “stogie” and the ingenious means by which Lancaster’s brewers circumvented the Volstead Act. Thanks to A.J. for loaning us her husband.

Old college rivalry aside, you guys were great guests too. Thanks for moving off the beaten path of Lancaster tourism and exploring the deep history of our great little city. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks for reviewing and come back again some time.
