The Roaming Table

Our expert tour guides will navigate your through the historic Village of Lewiston. On our three hour tour we will learn about the rich history of this quintessential small town. You will learn about Lewiston’s role on the Underground Railroad, the War of 1812 and even its ties to the Mafia! Lewiston is also known for its amazing restaurants. There are over 30 restaurants in a half mile radius! We will stop at “mom and pop” shops, waterfront eateries, chef owned restaurants, bustling coffee shops and much more. At each stop we will sample generous portions of food (along with drink pairings at 2 stops), enough for a filling lunch!

Nos guides touristiques experts vous guideront à travers le village historique de Lewiston. Au cours de notre visite de trois heures, nous découvrirons la riche histoire de cette petite ville par excellence. Vous découvrirez le rôle de Lewiston dans le chemin de fer clandestin, la guerre de 1812 et même ses liens avec la mafia ! Lewiston est également connue pour ses incroyables restaurants. Il y a plus de 30 restaurants dans un rayon d'un demi-mile ! Nous nous arrêterons dans des boutiques "maman et pop", des restaurants au bord de l'eau, des restaurants appartenant à des chefs, des cafés animés et bien plus encore. À chaque arrêt, nous dégusterons de généreuses portions de nourriture (ainsi que des accords boissons à 2 arrêts), assez pour un déjeuner copieux !

I have visited Lewiston but now realize I hadn't experienced it yet. Our party of four had the great fortune to have the owners as our tour guides on a Sunday afternoon. Let me start at the beginning - booking the tour was easy on the Roaming Table website then I received reminders and information via email and text. Parking was plentiful and easy to find nearby the meeting location. Tour guides found us and provided a food tasting handout which described the locations we would be visiting, additional restaurant guide suggestions, coupons, a place for note-taking, and a map of the are we would be walking. Because we selected the food tasting and historical tour we made stops at the Freedom Crossing Monument, Frontier House, museum, cemetery and learned so much about Lewiston's role in the Underground Railroad. We received generous tastings at several local restaurants including The Silo Restaurant where we tried the Haystack. The star of the show for the four of us was Waterstreet Landing where we tried their Bavarian Burger and Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. Waterstreet Landing offers amazing views and beautiful woodwork. We also enjoyed tastings at the Brickyard Pub and BBQ, DiCamillo Bakery, Orange Cat Coffee Company, and the Village Bake Shop. The tour was a little over three hours and provided plenty of food for a meal and dessert. Di Camillo Bakery had us reminiscing about childhood; their pizza and Italian bread reminded us of my great-gram's. The bakery was bright and clean and the shelves were laid out so perfectly. They sell pizzelles, biscotti, cucidati. The excitement was palpable. We look forward to doing the new Prohibition Tour offered by The Roaming Table. Lewiston has so much charm (and so many restaurants). We cannot wait to experience it again.

Found this on google and decided to do it. Best decision! Chris and Alicia are great hosts, and very funny. You can feel their passion as you tour Lewiston and learn of the history behind it. The drink and food pairings were delicious and varied. We did the prohibition tour this time but can’t wait to book the regular food tour also. Support local business and do this tour!

Such a great experience! Very interesting, educational, and entertaining! The tour guides were very informative, and there was never a dull moment! The food and drink pairing was spot on. We indulged in beverages and cuisine we never would dream of trying and LOVED every bit of it! We will definitely be recommending to our friends and returning soon.
